An Idea that Changed the World

One man had an idea that would change the world. To change the way communication was done forever. In a time where information could only be spread in person or through hand written notes, leaving information scarce and unreliable. In 1440 this all changed when he, Johannes Gutenberg, changed the world by inventing the printing press. Information and messages could now be reproduced at incomprehensible speeds compared to past communications. It was an event that changed the world forever.

Nearly 600 years later another type of communication has emerged and is changing the way information is spread. The advancements in technology have allowed us to surpass the days of written word and into moving pictures. The advancement of Online Video.

Online video is a trend quickly dominating the world. With free streaming sites such as Youtube any person or business can post videos without the clearance of a gatekeeper. This freedom has allowed for small businesses to compete with large corporations on the same playing field. The audience has the power to choose which content they want delivered to them at that very second. Having the freedom of choice puts the power in the viewer instead of the gatekeepers, which creates an amazing opportunity for small players who we’re unwilling or unable to purchase air time on communication networks in the past.

Right now businesses are presented with a unique opportunity where a large budget doesn’t guarantee you views or interactions with your audience. Delivering valuable and entertaining video content can set yourself apart from competitors and build an audience like never before. Brands such as Dollar Shave Club and Old Spice are a proven example of the power of online video. The businesses that will succeed in this era will be the ones who embrace online video.
